Harrison Crescent Cooperative Selects Webb & Brooker to Manage Their Cooperative.

New York State Department of Taxation and Finance Announces Changes to STAR Program

New legislation passed in New York State requires all homeowners receiving a Basic STAR exemption to register with the New York State Tax Department in order to receive STAR exemptions in 2014 and subsequent years.

The two basic types of STAR exemptions are:

  • Basic STAR
    • Available for owner-occupied, primary residences where the resident owners’ and their spouses income is less than $500,000
    • Exempts the first $30,000 of the full value of a home from school taxes

  • Enhanced STAR
    • Provides an increased benefit for the primary residences of senior citizens (age 65 and older) with qualifying incomes
    • Exempts the first $63,300 of the full value of a home from school taxes as of 2013-2014 school tax bills (up $62,200 in 2012-13)

Webb & Brooker served as Corporate Sponsor for this year’s Jamaica YMCA Fundraiser Concert, featuring Damien Escobar at the Jamaica Performing Arts Center.

The firm was also a Sponsor of the 25th Annual American Heart Association Golf Classic, which took place on June 17 at the Meadow Brook Club in Jericho, NY.

Webb & Brooker also continued its support of the Annual African American Day parade breakfast, which publicly recognizes the accomplishments of various groups and individuals in the Harlem community while taking advantage of the spirit of the African American Day Parade.

Bernard Warren Selected to Teach at Baruch College

Bernard Warren became Professor Warren this summer. He returned to his alma mater, Baruch College, to teach a course on Black Economic Development which explains black businesses and business persons to assist students prior to developing their own business plans.
